ct-calcium-scoreThe coronary arteries are the vessels that supply oxygen-rich blood to the heart. The plaque that may be found in these arteries is a build-up of fat, calcium and other substances that can either narrow or close the arteries. Some symptoms of plaque build-up in these arteries may be chest pain, arm tingle, or back pain. They might not produce any symptoms either.

Calcium Scoring, also known as CT Heart Scan, is a non-invasive scan which will calculate your risk of developing Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) by measuring the amount of calcium in the arteries.

You will lie in the scanner while 3D images of your heart are obtained using a low dose of radiation. Once the images have been reviewed by a consultant, you will be given a full report, which includes an image disc. The scan also includes a free visualisation of the lungs.
