What is bowel cancer screening?
Our Bowel Cancer Screening program uses two tests: Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) and Virtual CT Colonoscopy.
FIT looks for hidden blood in your stool (poo), which may be indicative of colorectal cancer. The virtual colonoscopy is a special X-ray examination of the colon using low dose computed tomography (CT). It is a less invasive procedure than a conventional colonoscopy. A radiologist reviews the images from the virtual colonoscopy to look for polyps on the inside of the colon that can sometimes turn into colon cancer.
Your results are made available within 24 hours, and a full medical report signed off by a doctor will be provided.
